About Scribbles From Emily
Scribbles From Emily is a lifestyle blog about confident style, creative living, and our higher calling.
- A Confident Style: growing our confidence and discovering our personal style.
- A Creative Life: expressing our creativity through DIY, home decor and renovations.
- A Higher Calling: becoming the best version of ourselves so that we can live generously, purposefully, and joyfully.
I started blogging in 2009 to record my adventures on a mission trip for my family and friends. After that summer ended, I discovered it could be so much more: a place to connect and find community, find my voice and my style, learn and grow, and make a difference in the world. After almost a decade of blogging, I still love it!
A bit of my story: I am a Midwestern small-town preacher’s daughter. My relationship with God is the most exciting adventure of my life. I married my best friend at the age of 19 and we moved across the country to the Phoenix Valley a week after our honeymoon! Five years later, Edison, our little man, joined us. In August of 2018, we made another cross country move to Upstate New York after eight years in Arizona. One month later, Bennett came along!
After graduating from Arizona State, I’ve undertaken a few endeavors into entrepreneur-ism with a marriage advice website, branding and web design, an embroidery and quilt pattern company, and a watercolor stationery shop, Bleu Feather Paper Co. I’ve worked full time at a non-profit as a marketing writer, social media content editor, managing a creative services team, and the editor for a quarterly magazine while freelance writing on the side. In February of 2018, I left my full time job to pursue freelance writing. Working for non-profits as a freelancer has confirmed what I’ve always known: each one of us holds the power to make a difference, and really change the world.
A few of my favorite things are peace and quiet (I’m an INTJ), decorating and remodeling our home, and crafting. I geek out over the Enneagram (I’m a 1w9) and Harry Potter. The ocean is my happy place, blue is my favorite color, and I’m addicted to stripes. On a free Saturday morning, you’ll find me at a thrift store, or browsing the bookstore downtown. Connect with me on Instagram where I share more of our adventures as a family enjoying small town life in upstate New York.
